KUBWA FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2025/2026 PRE-MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE THE FIRST BYAZHI DERBY! RUNNERS FC 🆚 SPORTING FA Sunday, 11 October 2026 Tipngoal: Coach Lawal, this is the first Byazhi Derby between Runners FC and Sporting FA in the Kubwa Football League. What does this historic encounter mean to you, your players, and the entire Byazhi football community? Coach Lawal: It means a lot to both myself and my players, as well as the people of Byazhin. It has been a while since they witnessed a truly competitive local derby, so I believe the atmosphere will be massive. This is an important occasion for the community, and we are looking forward to being part of this historic encounter. Tipngoal: Runners FC started the season impressively with a 5–1 victory over Odu’a FC. How important was that result for your team’s confidence, and can you maintain your impressive scoring form against Sporting FA? Question: The victory was very important for our confidence. However, when it comes to scoring goals in the derby, let us wait and see what happens. Football is unpredictable, and we will approach the game with the right mentality and see how things unfold on the pitch. Tipngoal: This is more than just another league match; it is a local derby with bragging rights at stake. How are you preparing your players to handle the pressure and expectations surrounding this historic fixture? Coach Lawal: To me, it is just another game, and trust me, that is exactly what I tell my players. We must not allow the occasion or the pressure surrounding the derby to distract us from our objectives. We will approach it like every other league match and focus on doing our job. Tipngoal: Sporting FA began their campaign with a 1–1 draw against Chona & Friends FC. What have you observed about their strengths and weaknesses, and what tactical plan do you have to overcome them? Coach Lawal: Sporting FA are a team with very young talents. They are energetic and vibrant, and we respect what they bring to the game. As I said earlier, for us, it is just another game. We will focus on our preparations and approach the match with confidence. Tipngoal: Runners FC scored five goals in their opening match. Should Sporting FA expect the same attacking approach, or will you make tactical adjustments specifically for the derby? Coach Lawal: When we get to the bridge, we will know how to cross it! We have our plans, and we will assess the situation as the game progresses. For now, our focus is on preparing the team and ensuring the players are ready for whatever challenges the match presents. Tipngoal: In a derby, form can sometimes count for little because both teams want to prove a point. How will you ensure your players remain disciplined and focused while fighting for all three points? Coach Lawal: I will do that by letting them understand how important the game is while also encouraging them to be themselves and approach it like every other match. They must remain disciplined, stay focused, and express themselves on the pitch without allowing the pressure of the derby to affect their performance. Tipngoal: THE BIG DERBY QUESTION: Coach Lawal, history will remember the first Byazhi Derby in the Kubwa Football League. How determined are you to make Runners FC the first winners of this historic rivalry, and what message do you have for Sporting FA? Coach Lawal: We are focused on our own preparations and what we want to achieve. My advice to Sporting FA is to approach it as another league game, just as we are doing. We respect them, but our attention is on our team and the task ahead. We look forward to a competitive match, and may the best team win! Thank you. BYAZHI DERBY — BRAGGING RIGHTS AT STAKE!
