Endrick’s Revival: From Frustration at Real Madrid to Flourishing at Lyon
February 15, 2026
238d agoWhen Endrick completed a six-month loan move to Lyon on 23 December 2025, it was seen as a crucial turning point in the teenager’s young career. After a challenging spell at Real Madrid, where opportunities were limited and competition for places was fierce, the Brazilian forward needed rhythm, confidence, and consistent minutes. In France, he has found exactly that — and more.
Endrick’s time in Madrid was filled with promise but short on playing time. Despite arriving with enormous expectations following his rise in Brazil, breaking into Carlo Ancelotti’s star-studded attack proved difficult. With established names leading the line and the pressure of competing on multiple fronts, the youngster often found himself on the bench. When chances did come, they were brief cameos that made it hard for him to truly settle or showcase his full ability.
The loan switch to Lyon has transformed his trajectory. In Ligue 1, Endrick has been trusted with responsibility and given the freedom to express himself. His pace, sharp movement, and clinical finishing have quickly made him a fan favorite. January proved to be his breakout month, as he was deservedly named Ligue 1 Player of the Month after a string of decisive performances that reignited his confidence and reminded Europe of his immense talent.
More than just goals, it’s the maturity in his overall game that stands out.
At Lyon, he has shown improved link-up play, intelligent pressing, and composure in front of goal. The consistent starts have allowed him to build chemistry with teammates and adapt to the tactical demands of European football — something that was difficult to achieve with limited minutes in Spain.
This loan spell could ultimately prove to be the making of Endrick. What once looked like a stalled start at Real Madrid now appears to be a necessary step in his development. By stepping away from the spotlight and embracing the challenge in France, he has rediscovered his spark — and if this form continues, Madrid may soon welcome back a more complete, confident, and battle-ready star.
