210d agoArsenal F.C. left it late but eventually secured an important 2–0 victory over Everton F.C. in their Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
After a tightly contested match that looked destined to end in a stalemate, the Gunners struck twice in the closing moments to claim a crucial three points in front of their home crowd.
For much of the game, Arsenal controlled possession and dictated the tempo, but Everton’s organized defense made it difficult for the hosts to create clear scoring opportunities.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 89th minute when Viktor Gyökeres finished from close range after a well-timed delivery from teenage prospect Max Dowman, sending the Emirates into celebration.
Dowman then capped off an outstanding cameo by adding a second goal deep into stoppage time. The youngster embarked on a swift counter-attack, racing forward before calmly slotting the ball into the net to seal the victory and mark a memorable moment in his early career.
The result strengthens Arsenal’s push near the top of the Premier League table as the season heads into its decisive weeks.
Everton, meanwhile, will take some positives from a disciplined performance but ultimately leave North London without a reward after conceding late in the contest.
