239d agoChelsea started the game with a strong attacking lineup despite resting some first-team regulars, with Robert Sánchez in goal and a back four featuring Reece James, debutant Mamadou Sarr, Wesley Fofana and Jorrel Hato. In midfield, Moisés Caicedo, Andrey Santos and Estêvão pulled the strings, while Pedro Neto, Alejandro Garnacho and Liam Delap led the front line.
Hull City responded with a traditional 3-4-3 setup, but couldn’t find any real foothold against the Premier League opposition.
The deadlock was broken just before halftime when Pedro Neto opened the scoring with a superb strike from outside the box in the 40th minute, perfectly set up by Liam Delap’s clever pass.
Neto was a real thorn for Hull all night, and he doubled Chelsea’s lead shortly after the break with a goal from a corner situation, showcasing his instinctive finishing.
Chelsea’s dominance continued after the break. Estêvão added a third with a composed left-footed finish in the 59th minute, again assisted by Delap, who had a hugely influential night creating chances.
Then, just moments later, Neto completed his hat-trick, firing home to make it 4–0 and underline his man-of-the-match performance.
The Blues controlled large portions of the game from start to finish, with their attackers proving far too sharp for Hull to handle and the midfield comfortably retaining possession throughout.
The result sends Chelsea confidently into the FA Cup fifth round, while Hull will look to bounce back in the league after a spirited, if ultimately one-sided, cup effort.
