182d agoFC Barcelona sent a powerful message in La Liga with a ruthless 4-1 demolition of RCD Espanyol in the Catalan derby on April 11, 2026. From the first whistle at Camp Nou, Barcelona played with intensity, purpose, and aggression, overwhelming their city rivals in a performance that underlined their dominance in Spanish football this season.
The hosts struck early and never looked back, with Ferran Torres leading the charge in emphatic fashion. The forward rediscovered his scoring touch with a clinical brace in the first half, both goals crafted through sharp attacking play and relentless pressure.
Young star Lamine Yamal once again proved decisive, pulling the strings in attack and exposing Espanyol’s defensive weaknesses with ease.
Espanyol attempted to respond after the break and briefly found hope through Pol Lozano’s well-taken goal. For a moment, it seemed the visitors might claw their way back into the contest, but Barcelona quickly crushed any resistance. Their control of possession and relentless pressing suffocated Espanyol, leaving them chasing shadows for most of the match.
Barcelona’s dominance only intensified as the game wore on. Lamine Yamal crowned his outstanding display with a goal of his own, while a late strike from Marcus Rashford added further gloss to an already commanding scoreline. Every attack carried danger, and Espanyol simply had no answers to the relentless wave of pressure.
This emphatic victory extends Barcelona’s winning streak and tightens their grip on the La Liga title race. With performances this fierce and focused, they look unstoppable heading into the final stretch of the season. For Espanyol, however, it was a harsh reminder of the gulf in quality, as they were thoroughly outclassed on derby day.
