That miss would soon come back to haunt them.
Sporting Dreams gradually settled into the match and eventually found the breakthrough through Destiny, who rose brilliantly to score a superb header and give his side a deserved lead.
The first half ended 1-0 in favour of Sporting Dreams after an energetic and competitive opening 45 minutes.
The second half continued in the same intense fashion, with both teams pushing aggressively and creating opportunities in search of goals. Chances came and went at both ends as the tempo of the game remained high.
The decisive moment arrived when a Nova defender brought down a Sporting Dreams attacker inside the penalty area, leaving the referee with no option but to point to the spot.
Captain Godswill stepped up and confidently converted the penalty kick to double Sporting Dreams’ advantage and seal a massive victory for the young side.
The final whistle confirmed a 2-0 win for Sporting Dreams, who now advance to the quarter-finals after an impressive and mature performance against Nova FC.
