32d agoMarumo Gallants have confirmed the departure of head coach Phuti Mohafe, bringing an early end to his time at the club.
The Premier Soccer League side announced the coaching change after a difficult opening to the campaign, with the club turning to Trevor Mathiane to take charge on an interim basis.
Mohafe's spell at Gallants has lasted only a few months, with results failing to match the club's expectations. The team has struggled to find consistency and has been unable to secure a victory in its opening league fixtures.
The latest setback came in a 2-2 draw against Polokwane City, a result that left Gallants still searching for their first league win of the campaign.
With the season still in its early stages, the club has now opted for a change in the dugout in an attempt to halt the poor run and restore confidence within the squad.
Mathiane Given the Responsibility:
Trevor Mathiane will assume control of the team while Gallants assess their next move.
The interim appointment is not entirely unfamiliar territory for Mathiane, who has previously been involved with the club and understands the demands surrounding the team.
His immediate priority will be to steady the side, improve results and move Gallants away from danger.
The club will be hoping that a change in leadership can spark an immediate reaction from the players as they look to get their season back on track.
Gallants Face Crucial Weeks Ahead:
The timing of the decision puts significant pressure on Mathiane, with important fixtures approaching.
Gallants cannot afford to allow their difficult start to continue for much longer, particularly with the fight for league survival already beginning to take shape.
For Mohafe, meanwhile, the departure represents a frustrating end to a coaching tenure that promised much but ultimately failed to gain momentum.
Gallants will now turn the page and trust Mathiane to provide the stability and results needed to revive their campaign.
