Ikorodu City returned to winning ways in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a convincing 2–0 victory over Kwara United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Saturday.
The Oga Boys made a dream start to their Matchday 8 encounter, taking the lead just two minutes into the game through Farouk Salami, who rose highest to head home from Ujunwa Elijah’s well-delivered throw-in.
The early breakthrough gave the Lagos-based side confidence as they continued to threaten their visitors, putting Kwara United under pressure.
Ikorodu City doubled their advantage in the 36th minute when Ikechukwu Junior found the back of the net with another well-taken header, giving the hosts a comfortable two-goal cushion before the break.
Kwara United struggled to find a response as Ikorodu City maintained their advantage, managing the game effectively to secure all three points and a clean sheet.
The victory marked an important response from the Oga Boys following their 2–0 defeat to Rivers United in their previous league outing.
