268d agoManchester City have completed the signing of England international Marc Guéhi, securing the Crystal Palace defender for a fee reported to be around $27 million, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The move brings an end to City’s search for defensive reinforcements and marks a major step forward for Guéhi, who has risen steadily through the Premier League ranks.
Pep Guardiola identified Guéhi as a key target following injuries to several first-team centre-backs earlier in the campaign. With his calmness in possession, strong defensive instincts, and proven Premier League experience, Guéhi fits seamlessly into City’s technical and possession-based style. His ability to play in a high line and his growing leadership qualities were major reasons City moved swiftly to close the deal once negotiations advanced.
Crystal Palace, while reluctant to lose their captain, accepted City’s offer amid the player’s desire to take the next step in his career. Guéhi leaves Selhurst Park as one of the club’s most consistent performers of recent seasons, having transformed into a leader and a defensive pillar since his arrival from Chelsea. Palace released a statement thanking him for his service, acknowledging his professionalism and impact both on and off the pitch.
For Guéhi, this move represents the biggest challenge of his career so far. The 24-year-old has already established himself as a reliable figure for both club and country, and joining Manchester City offers him the chance to compete for major domestic and European titles. He is expected to challenge immediately for minutes, with Guardiola confident that Guéhi’s defensive intelligence and composure will elevate the team’s depth significantly.
As City continue their pursuit of success across all competitions, Guéhi’s arrival could prove crucial in stabilizing the back line for the remainder of the season. With the deal now confirmed and the player ready to begin a new chapter in Manchester, attention turns to when Guéhi will make his first appearance in sky blue. The champions have secured not only a strong defender, but a long-term asset with the potential to grow even further under Guardiola’s guidance.
