262d agoIn a thrilling UEFA Champions League league phase showdown on January 21, 2026, FC Barcelona secured a valuable 4-2 victory away at Slavia Prague at the Fortuna Arena in the Czech capital. The match was high on action and drama, with Barcelona overcoming a nervy start and two early goals from Slavia to claim the three points that keep their hopes alive of finishing in the top eight and reaching the Round of 16.
Slavia Prague stunned the home crowd early, taking the lead in the 10th minute through Vasil Kusej, who finished from close range after a well-worked set play. The hosts looked confident and organized in the opening stages, but Barcelona gradually grew into the game thanks to sustained pressure and incisive attacking play.
Barcelona hit back before halftime with two goals from Fermín López, his first a clever finish from a tight angle and his second showing great composure inside the box. Just as it seemed Barça were pulling ahead, an unfortunate own goal by Robert Lewandowski allowed Slavia to level the score at 2-2, making for a tense atmosphere heading into the break.
The second half saw Barcelona take control as their bench made a significant impact. Dani Olmo came off the bench to score a brilliant strike that put Barcelona back in front, and Lewandowski later added another with a composed finish after a clever run and assist. The improved attacking play from the visitors helped them seal the win despite defensive lapses that had allowed Slavia’s goals.
With this 4-2 result, Barcelona not only picked up the crucial points but also boosted their goal difference — a potentially decisive factor in the final standings as the league phase nears its close. Slavia Prague fought hard and showed they can compete at this level, but Barcelona’s quality in depth ultimately made the difference on the night.
