KUBWA FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2026/27 SEASON THE LEAGUE IS BACK! After a long break, the Kubwa Football League is back! The 2026/27 season promises another exciting battle involving 12 teams, with defending champions, former champions, established clubs and ambitious newcomers all fighting for one trophy. 🔴 AREWA FC — DEFENDING CHAMPIONS The 2024/25 champions, Arewa FC, are back to defend their crown. After lifting the trophy last season, Arewa FC will be looking to retain their championship. The team will continue to rely on key players including Captain Kamal, Prograss, Bobby, Godstime Ukashat, Sagiru, Jata’u, Muhammad and star man Yusuf. There are no major new signings, with the club instead choosing to promote some of its promising academy players into the first team. 🟡 BONEZ FC Bonez FC made a promising start to last season and looked capable of challenging strongly. However, their form dropped towards the end of the campaign. They return this season looking for greater consistency from the opening match to the final whistle, with key players such as Peter and Flash expected to play important roles. Bonez FC will be hoping to turn last season’s strong start into a complete league campaign and push for a stronger finish this time around. 🟡 CHONA & FRIENDS FC — PROMOTED Chona & Friends FC are one of the promoted teams joining the league this season. They will be looking to adapt quickly to the demands of league football and make their presence felt. One player to watch is Henry, who already has league experience from his time with Star Source FC. 🟣 DIAMOND STARS SPORTING FC Diamond Stars Sporting FC started last season well, but their poor home record affected their ability to maintain a serious challenge for the league title. This season, they will be looking to improve their home performances and become more consistent. The team has also lost key striker Godpower, among others. Can Diamond Stars turn things around and produce a stronger campaign? 🔵 DLK WORLD BEST FC DLK World Best FC had an impressive playoff campaign, showing strong defensive form and conceding only one goal throughout the playoff. They now enter the league ready to test themselves against the established teams. With new faces added to the squad, DLK World Best FC will be looking to carry their strong defensive performances into the league season. 🟢 GOZIE FA Gozie FA did not have the best start to the 2024/25 season, but they improved significantly towards the end of the campaign. They will be hoping to carry that improvement into the new season. Gozie FA have allowed Abdulmuiz Mohammed, Ogbozor Obumneme Peter and Favour Maxwell to move to Hjunt FC, while also promoting some of their young academy players. One player to watch is Emem Ekemni, while Idagu Anthony, a young talent with league experience, could also play an important role for Gozie FA this season. ⚫ HJUNT FC Hjunt FC started last season well but were unable to qualify for the next round. They now have another opportunity to compete and will be looking to turn a strong start into a successful campaign. The club has strengthened through loan deals, bringing in Ogbozor Obumneme Peter and Favour Maxwell from Gozie FA. 🟢 KUNBIAN FC — PLAYOFF CHAMPIONS Kunbian FC earned their place in the league by winning the playoff. Now they have the opportunity to test themselves against the established teams in the league. The newly promoted side has already made a statement by signing Parrisa Jnr from Runners FC. Kunbian FC will be looking to prove themselves at league level. 🔴 ODU’A FC Odu’a FC came close to relegation last season. They return with something to prove and will be determined to produce a much stronger campaign this time around. With Bidemi and the rest of the squad looking to step up, Odu’a FC will be hoping to move away from the relegation battle and establish themselves as a stronger side. 🔵 RUNNERS FC — FORMER CHAMPIONS Runners FC are one-time league champions, winning the 2023/24 season. They are back looking to return to the level that previously made them champions. However, the team has lost some important players. Parrisa Jnr has moved to newly promoted Kunbian FC, while star boy Rhema has returned to his parent club following a successful loan spell. Runners have responded by adding young talents Ade and Kayode from Star Source FC. Can the 2023/24 champions rebuild and challenge again? 🟠 SPORTING FA Sporting FA showed improvement and finished last season strongly. They will be looking to build on that momentum and make their mark from the beginning of the new campaign. The club has strengthened in goal with the signing of Kato, an experienced goalkeeper from Star Source FC. 🔵 UZUM FC — FIRST-EDITION CHAMPIONS Uzum FC are one-time league champions, having won the first edition of the Kubwa Football League.
