Runners FC 1–2 Nova FC
May 5, 2026
159d agoIt was a tale of two halves in this grassroots friendly as Nova FC edged Runners FC 2–1 in an entertaining encounter.
The game started on a slow note, with both teams struggling to create clear chances. Runners FC enjoyed more possession and looked the more threatening side, but lacked cutting edge in the final third, failing to register a shot on target until the 30th minute. Nova FC, on the other hand, found it difficult to get into the game and created very little, as the first half ended goalless at 0–0.
The second half told a completely different story. Both teams came out with renewed energy, playing at a higher tempo and showing real attacking intent. Chances began to open up at both ends, with either side capable of breaking the deadlock.
The breakthrough finally came through Kudus, who finished off a well-worked move from Nova FC to put his team ahead. The goal lifted the intensity of the game and stunned Runners FC.
Nova FC continued to press and nearly doubled their lead shortly after, with Kudus once again at the center of the action, making it 2–0 with a composed finish.
Runners FC responded late in the game, as Uche pulled one back to make it 2–1, setting up a tense finish. However, Nova FC held on to secure the win.
In the end, Nova FC’s clinical finishing in the second half made the difference in an otherwise evenly contested grassroots clash.
