PRE-MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE DLK WORLD BEST FC vs AREWA FC Coach Aliyu (Arewa FC) 1. Coach, Arewa FC played out an exciting 3–3 draw against Diamond Star Sporting FC. How would you assess your team’s performance? Coach Aliyu: Good morning. It’s not the result we wanted. We made some errors in the defensive line, mainly because of injuries and fitness issues. But we are working on that. We have only one training session left, so we will assess the boys’ fitness and see who is ready. 2. You scored three goals but conceded three. What have you worked on defensively? Coach Aliyu: We are working on the defensive line, and I believe we will see improvement in the next game. 3. Arewa FC are the defending champions. Does that put extra pressure on the team? Coach Aliyu: Yes. Everybody wants to beat Arewa FC, so every team ties their belt when they play us. We know that, and we are ready for the challenge. 4. DLK World Best FC have recorded two consecutive 0–0 draws. What do you expect from them? Coach Aliyu: They are well organised defensively, but we will try to break their defence and create chances. 5. How do you plan to exploit their strong defensive record? Coach Aliyu: We will work on breaking their defence. We have good attacking players, so we believe we can find a way through. 6. Are there any injury concerns in the Arewa FC squad? Coach Aliyu: Yes, there are quite a few. We will assess the boys today and see who is fit enough to play. 7. Can you give us an update on some of the players? Coach Aliyu: Prograss trained on Monday, and Henry also trained on Monday, so maybe Henry can get some minutes. Kamal didn’t train, but hopefully he will train today. We will also assess Sagiru and Kabiru; they are all doubtful. Alex is still out, but we will see how things look today. Ishaku is still out, John is still out, and Ozigi is also out of the game. 8. Should we expect changes to your starting lineup? Coach Aliyu: Yes, there will be some changes. 9. Are you considering changing your formation or overall tactical approach? Coach Aliyu: No. We are doing well with our system, so we will continue with it. 10. What area of the team needs the biggest improvement? Coach Aliyu: Definitely the defence. We have conceded four goals in two games, and that is not the culture of Arewa FC. We have to improve that. 11. Will you continue with an attacking approach against DLK? Coach Aliyu: Yes. I believe we have one of the best attacks in the league so far, so we will continue to play our football and try to score goals. 12. How important would three points against DLK World Best FC be? Coach Aliyu: It will be very important. Three points will add more fuel to our league dreams, especially as we are currently topping the table. We want to maintain that position. 13. Finally, what is your message to the Arewa FC supporters? Coach Aliyu: Let them come and support the boys, ginger them, pray for them, and enjoy the football. We need their support. Thank you, Coach Aliyu.
