179d agoParis Saint-Germain produced a composed and clinical display at Anfield to secure a 2–0 victory over Liverpool, completing a commanding 4–0 aggregate win and advancing to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. Holding a solid advantage from the first leg, the French side showed maturity and control to navigate a potentially hostile night in England.
Liverpool came out with intent, pressing high and trying to unsettle PSG early in front of their home fans. The Reds enjoyed long spells of possession and pushed forward with urgency, but they found it difficult to break down a well-organized PSG defense that remained compact and disciplined throughout the opening stages.
As the match settled, PSG began to grow in confidence, waiting patiently for opportunities to strike on the counter. Their breakthrough arrived in the second half when Ousmane Dembélé finished off a swift attacking move with precision, effectively putting the tie beyond Liverpool’s reach and shifting the momentum firmly in PSG’s favor.
With Liverpool forced to commit more players forward in search of a response, spaces began to open up at the back. PSG took full advantage in stoppage time, with Dembélé grabbing his second goal of the night to seal a convincing win and cap off an impressive individual performance.
Across both legs, PSG’s balance between defensive solidity and attacking sharpness proved too much for Liverpool. The Premier League side struggled to convert their chances, and their inability to find a breakthrough ultimately cost them any hope of mounting a comeback.
For PSG, it was a statement performance on one of Europe’s biggest stages, reinforcing their credentials as serious contenders for the title. Liverpool, meanwhile, are left to reflect on a night where effort was not enough, as their Champions League journey came to an abrupt end.
