PSG’s Stunning Comeback Shocks AS Monaco in UCL Thriller
February 17, 2026
235d agoMonaco burst out of the blocks with an astonishing start as Folarin Balogun scored inside the first minute and doubled the lead just 18 minutes in, putting PSG on the back foot early in the match.
PSG struggled to settle initially and even saw a penalty saved, but they began their comeback soon after with Désiré Doué — introduced as a substitute — pulling one back before halftime. Achraf Hakimi then levelled for the visitors just before the break to make it 2–2 going into the interval.
The momentum swung further in PSG’s favour after the break when Monaco were reduced to ten men following a red card, giving the Parisians a numerical edge they would eventually exploit.
PSG took the lead in the second half when Doué struck again to make it 3–2, completing his crucial contribution to the comeback and putting the champions in front on the night. Despite Monaco’s spirited start and Balogun’s early double, they couldn’t find another response, and PSG held on for the win.
The 3–2 scoreline gives PSG a valuable advantage heading into the second leg back in Paris, while Monaco will need to overturn that deficit if they want to progress to the round of 16. Overall, it was a game of two halves — a fast-starting Monaco and a resilient PSG comeback — showcasing both teams’ attacking talent and determination
