For years, Osimhen was widely expected to secure a blockbuster move after leaving SSC Napoli. Even Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis once predicted that the striker’s next destination would be a European giant such as Real Madrid, Paris Saint‑Germain, or a major club in the Premier League.
Instead, Osimhen ended up in Istanbul, where he has become the centerpiece of Galatasaray’s ambitious project.
From Napoli Hero to Istanbul Superstar
Osimhen’s reputation as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards was cemented during his time in Italy. The Nigerian striker played a crucial role in Napoli’s historic Serie A title triumph, finishing as the league’s top scorer and becoming a fan favorite in Naples.
However, tensions eventually emerged between player and club, particularly after a controversial social media post mocking him for a missed penalty sparked outrage.
The incident reportedly damaged the relationship between Osimhen and the club hierarchy, accelerating his desire to leave Naples.

Galatasaray’s leadership also believes the investment has already been justified. Club executives have described Osimhen as one of the best centre-forwards in world football and a key figure in their long-term ambition to become a genuine Champions League contender.
The Future Still Uncertain:
At 26, Osimhen remains firmly in his prime, and speculation about a potential move to Europe’s biggest leagues refuses to disappear.
His goal-scoring exploits continue to attract attention, meaning another major transfer could still be possible in the coming years.
