130d agoMatch Day 8 of the Tipngoal Knockout Championship delivered another exciting encounter as Arewa FC secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Lovers FC on a cool evening following heavy rainfall earlier in the day.
Both sides entered the contest looking determined and focused, but it was Lovers FC who started the brighter of the two teams. The early exchanges saw Lovers FC set a high tempo, creating two golden opportunities after costly mistakes from the Arewa FC defense. However, their attackers failed to make the most of the chances, leaving the game goalless.
Those missed opportunities would soon prove costly.
Arewa FC gradually found their rhythm and began to take control of the match, launching wave after wave of attacks at the Lovers FC backline. Although they also squandered a few promising chances, their persistence eventually paid off when Yusuf Audu was brought down inside the penalty area after a strong attacking move.
Hussaini Ibrahim stepped up confidently from the spot and calmly converted the penalty to give Arewa FC a deserved lead.
Buoyed by the opener, Arewa FC continued to dominate proceedings. Their pressure soon produced a second goal when Inusa embarked on a brilliant solo run before finishing clinically to double his side’s advantage.
The first half ended with Arewa FC firmly in control, leading 2-0.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Arewa FC dictating the pace of the game while Lovers FC struggled to make a meaningful impact. Any hopes of a comeback were effectively ended when Hussaini Ibrahim grabbed his second goal of the evening, finishing off another attacking move to make it 3-0.
The final whistle confirmed a comprehensive victory for Arewa FC, who showed quality, composure, and determination throughout the encounter.
With the win, Arewa FC advance to the quarter-finals of the Tipngoal Knockout Championship, where they will face Bonez FC in what promises to be a thrilling contest.
