WEEK 4 PRE-MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE
BONEZ FC vs UZUM FC
COACH PRINCE — BONEZ FC (WABz)
Unbeaten Bonez FC, known as WABz, are second in the Kubwa Football League and could go top in Week 4 when they host Uzum FC. Coach Prince has a couple of injury concerns to sort out before kickoff, but his side have built their season on defensive organisation and teamwork. He spoke to TipNGoal about the team’s record, the need to improve finishing and why he’s wary of a compact Uzum side.
COACH PRINCE’S RESPONSES
1. TipNGoal: What’s the update on the team’s injury situation?
Coach Prince: We have a couple of injured players. Hopefully, we can assess their fitness during our final training session and determine who will be available for the game.
2. TipNGoal: What can you say about the team’s impressive defensive record?
Coach Prince: Our focus has been on teamwork, positional discipline and overall organisation. These have been key to our defensive solidity, and we hope to maintain that standard.
3. TipNGoal: What about the team’s attacking output?
Coach Prince: Every team wants to score goals because it boosts confidence, but defensive solidity is equally important. We are working on improving our conversion rate and making the most of the chances we create.
4. TipNGoal: Do you think the team can grab the opportunity to move to the top of the table?
Coach Prince: Uzum FC are a very good side, and we respect the quality they bring to the game. However, we remain focused on our objectives and hope to move to the top of the table by 6 p.m. on Friday.
5. TipNGoal: What tactics will the team use to break down Uzum FC’s defence?
Coach Prince: Uzum FC are a compact side that limits the chances opponents can create, especially during crucial moments. We understand the challenge, but we will look to exploit the opportunities that come our way. Let’s see how it unfolds.
6. TipNGoal: What’s your take on Bonez FC’s title ambitions?
Coach Prince: There are still over 20 matches to be played, so it is too early to get carried away by the league standings. Our priority is to stay focused, take each game as it comes and do our best to secure the points available.
7. TipNGoal: What’s your message to Bonez FC supporters?
Coach Prince: The WABz supporters have been amazing, and we truly appreciate their unwavering support. We encourage them to keep that positive energy going because the lads appreciate every bit of it. Their support means a lot to the team.
WHAT IT MEANS FOR THE TABLE
Bonez FC are second on seven points from three games with a goal difference of +2, level on points with leaders Arewa FC. Uzum FC are fifth with four points from two games and a goal difference of +1.
A win would take Bonez to ten points, enough to go top unless Arewa beat Runners FC in the other Week 4 fixture, in which case the two sides would be level on points and goal difference would separate them. A draw would leave Bonez on eight points. A Uzum win would pull Bonez back to the pack, with both sides on seven.
Coach Prince is not getting carried away. He stressed that the season is young and that his side’s priority is to take each match as it comes.
Coach Prince has emphasised teamwork, defensive organisation and improved finishing as Bonez FC prepare for their Week 4 clash against Uzum FC.
With the opportunity to climb to the top of the table, Bonez FC will be aiming to maintain their unbeaten run and continue their impressive defensive form. However, Coach Prince has made it clear that his side will not underestimate a well-organised Uzum FC team.
CAN THE WABz BOYS SECURE ALL THREE POINTS AND STRENGTHEN THEIR TITLE CREDENTIALS?
