Sporting Lagos vs Ikorodu City — Lagos Derby
The Lagos derby is here
September 30, 2026
11d agoSporting Lagos face Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in a rescheduled NPFL Matchday 2 fixture, with both sides coming into the game with plenty to play for.
Sporting Lagos have found some rhythm in their last two games. After an impressive 3–2 away win against Enyimba, the Tech Boys followed it up with a 1–1 draw against Barau FC. They’ll be hoping to carry that momentum into this derby, especially with home advantage on their side.
Ikorodu City will also arrive with confidence. The Oga Boys bounced back from their 2–1 defeat to Bendel Insurance by beating Enugu Rangers 2–0 in their last outing. That result should give them plenty of belief heading into another big Lagos encounter.
This could come down to who handles the pressure better. Sporting Lagos have shown they can cause problems going forward, while Ikorodu City have already demonstrated that they can compete against strong opposition.
And because it’s a Lagos derby, form may only tell part of the story. Expect plenty of intensity, tackles, battles in midfield and a game that could be decided by one moment of quality.
Who will take the bragging rights? 👀
