Bodø/Glimt Produce Historic Win to Eliminate Inter Milan
February 24, 2026
228d agoIn one of the most stunning results of the UEFA Champions League playoff round on Tuesday night, Bodø/Glimt completed a sensational upset over Inter Milan at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan. After entering the second leg trailing 3–1 from the first leg, the Norwegian side once again showed remarkable composure and quality to secure a 2–1 victory on the night and a 5–2 aggregate triumph, booking their place in the Champions League Round of 16 for the first time in club history.
Inter fought hard in front of their home supporters, hoping to overturn the deficit, but it was Bodø/Glimt who struck first in the second half. Jens Petter Hauge opened the scoring around the hour mark, breaking the deadlock and sending waves of celebration through the visiting supporters.
Shortly afterward, Håkon Evjen doubled the advantage with a well-placed strike that left Inter with an uphill battle. Although Alessandro Bastoni pulled one back late for the hosts, it wasn’t enough to change the outcome, and the aggregate score confirmed the Serie A giants’ exit.
The manner of Bodø/Glimt’s accomplishment will be remembered as one of the biggest shocks in recent European competition. Despite the pressure of playing on the road against a traditionally strong Italian side, they defended with discipline and struck efficiently on the counter, capitalising on limited chances.
Their disciplined performance underlined the tactical acumen of coach Kjetil Knutsen and showcased the quality emerging from Norwegian club football on the continental stage.
For Inter Milan, the defeat represents a significant European disappointment after a promising season domestically. With key players like Lautaro Martínez unavailable due to injury and a frustrated San Siro crowd, the hosts struggled to find the decisive spark needed to overturn the tie. Bodø/Glimt now advance to the last 16, where they will face some of Europe’s elite, while Inter regroup and turn their focus back to their Serie A campaign.
