Champions League Bombshell! Inter Humbled by Fearless Bodø/Glimt
February 18, 2026
234d agoIn a major European surprise, Bodø/Glimt stunned Inter Milan with a commanding 3–1 victory in the first leg of their Champions League knockout tie. The home side drew first blood in the 20th minute when Sondre Brunstad Fet finished smartly after linking up with teammates and beating Inter’s goalkeeper. Inter responded shortly after, with young striker Pio Esposito equalising for the Italian giants just before half-time to make it 1–1 going into the break.
The second half belonged to the Norwegian underdogs. Bodø/Glimt regained the lead early in the second period through a powerful finish by Jens Petter Hauge, putting them ahead 2–1 and swinging momentum firmly in their favour. Just three minutes later Kasper Høgh turned provider and scorer, tapping in a third goal to extend the lead and send the home crowd into raptures. The efficient attacking display and quick transitions left Inter struggling to cope.
Inter had moments of threat — including an early second-half effort off the post from Lautaro Martínez — but ultimately were unable to convert their pressure into more goals. The Italian side, who entered the tie as favourites, now face a significant challenge heading into the second leg back at the San Siro next week as they attempt to overturn the two-goal deficit.
For Bodø/Glimt, this victory caps another remarkable Champions League run this season, building on impressive results against top European clubs and marking one of the biggest nights in the club’s history. The win gives them a strong advantage and plenty of confidence as the tie moves to Italy for the decisive return fixture.
