Bayern Munich Demolish Atalanta 6–1 in Champions League First-Leg Thriller
March 10, 2026
214d agoBayern Munich delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday night, thrashing Atalanta BC 6–1 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash in Bergamo.
The German giants produced a ruthless attacking display that leaves them with one foot firmly in the quarter-finals.
Bayern took control early in the match and never looked back.
Defender Josip Stanišić opened the scoring from close range after a corner before Michael Olise doubled the advantage with a powerful strike from outside the box. Serge Gnabry soon added a third, giving the visitors a commanding lead before halftime.
The second half continued in the same fashion as Bayern’s relentless attack overwhelmed the Italian side. Olise grabbed another goal to complete his brace, while Nicolas Jackson and Luis Díaz also found the net during a devastating spell for the Bundesliga champions.
Atalanta managed a late consolation goal, but it did little to change the story of the night as Bayern dominated the contest from start to finish.
The victory puts Bayern in a very strong position ahead of the return leg in Munich.
With a five-goal advantage, Vincent Kompany’s side now look heavy favorites to progress to the quarter-finals, while Atalanta face a monumental challenge if they hope to overturn the deficit in the second leg.
